Intensive Urban Farming

Duration: 2 days

Ghar ka khana ​ is best, and what about ​ghar ka khana WITH ghar ki sabzi! What can be better for you and your loved ones than homegrown vegetables – organic, and as fresh as can be! Herbs, herbs and more herbs! We’ll talk and learn about all things herby in this super aromatic workshop.​ ​We will teach you everything you need to know about herbs. How to grow them, preserve them and cook with them:

Planting Fresh Air: A Workshop on Indoor Air-purifying Plants

Come winters, the haze and dust envelope the city in a blanket of pollution. Choking the air out of every child, woman, man and animal. Even trees are coated with dust, leaving all of us gasping for air!

Let us begin by reclaiming the air in our homes by bringing nature inside. While all plants naturally clean air and provide oxygen, some are masters at picking up especially harmful gases and pollutants.

Composting – Don’t Waste your Waste

If you thought magic doesn’t exist, then you thought wrong! Free and useful compost can be made at home very easily with all of your kitchen waste. This workshop will give you a thorough introduction to the why, what and how of composting. Soon enough, you’ll be able to have your waste and eat it too (kind of)!

We will be leading you through the entire process of converting your kitchen waste into black gold. You’ll learn how to make compost that doesn’t get smelly, different smart options for composting at home and. finally you will learn how best you can (re-)use your compost in your kitchen gardens to grow even yummier veggies.

Here’s what we’ll cover:

Pest Management

Pests aren’t a problem; they’re our friends, as long as you manage them right!

Less than 1% of bugs compete with us for food so you have nothing to worry about. Adequate pest and disease management demands an understanding of the dynamic biological system in which a plant exists. Pest populations become a problem because of an imbalance in the environment. This workshop will introduce you to common local pests and show you how to befriend them.

Here’s what we’ll cover:

You will be sowing and planting on our community farm beds– and there is nothing like learning by doing! While sowing and planting together, we will cover not only the requirements of greens, herbs, and the gobi family, but also how potatoes, onion, garlic, root vegetables and more can successfully be grown even in a small space.

We are literally drowning in our plastic waste and as citizens of Delhi it’s imperative that we fight plastic pollution head on. Do you want to know more about how much waste a household produces? Do you want to reduce your waste and take small steps towards environmental consciousness? Join us in this workshop to know answers to these, and much more! Our workshop will demonstrate and teach you how the plastic waste that you don’t know what to do with can be packed into creating a useable brick. These eco-bricks are highly insulating, robust, building material that can be used to make stools, benches and even used in building walls along with clay or cement. Our workshop will teach you step-by-step how to build these eco-bricks and take you one step closer to more conscious living.
