My Delicious Garden

‘Edible Routes’ is organising 4 workshops under the theme “My Delicious Garden!” as part of Akshya Pratisthan’s Brother’s@22 event for charity, on 12 July 2022. 

As part of these workshops, Julie and Kapil will take you through an interesting journey that will inspire and encourage you to develop a green thumb besides also showing you how to easily grow some fresh produce to create delicious meals. Hands-on activities included!

Beginner’s Guide to Urban Farming, 11.00 am – 12.00 pm 

Sow some seeds!

In a world where what we consume increasingly harbours chemicals, and impacts our health adversely, lets take back control of our food.

In this workshop, you will learn why growing your own food is important and how you can kick start growing your own veggies, fruits and herbs at home, your offices, community park and any other open space imaginable! 

Growing and Preserving Herbs, 1.00 pm – 2.00 pm 

Time to get “herby” with it!

This workshop will teach everything you need to know about herbs – how to grow, preserve, prepare and enjoy these natural and healthy flavour enhancers. We will discuss the design, set-up and maintenance of a herb garden and show you how to use freshly-harvested herbs in your daily diet.

Introduction to Composting, 3.00 pm – 4.00 pm

Turn trash to gold!

Naturally present microbes can work miracles with your kitchen waste, turning it to black gold.

This workshop will show you how to get composting by giving you a thorough introduction to the why, what and how of this subject. We will take you through the entire process of converting your kitchen waste into khaad, and ensure our compost doesn’t get smelly.  You will learn how to use compost in your kitchen garden so that you can harvest more fresh veggies.

Growing Microgreens, 5.00 pm – 6.00 pm

Miraculous microgreens!

Get to know these nutrient and flavor- rich, Mini-Me versions of green leafy veggies that you can easily grow and harvest within 10 days

In this workshop we’ll teach you everything you need to know to design your microgreen garden, start growing microgreens at home and using them in dishes like salads, soups and sandwiches.
