Delhi’s Edible Rooftops: Finding Roots in Concrete Spaces

This talk compresses everything we’ve learnt and currently do into one hour. Our business first took root in Delhi. Ever since, our community of kitchen gardeners has been growing consistently. This is their story and the story of how a number of Delhiites have begun getting their hands dirty and growing food on terraces, balconies and what used to be lawns. From supplementing the salad bowl to cutting vegetable costs by half, homegrown produce is making its way onto people’s dinner plates. This talk discusses the methods used in urban farming and the successes and failures of Delhiites who’ve taken their first steps towards connecting with their food.

We’ve conducted Delhi’s Edible Rooftops at a number of venues including the India Habitat Centre, India International Centre, Epicentre Gurgaon, Nirvaaha Café, Zorba the Buddha, and the Padma Centre for Soul Realization. If you can collect about 15 – 20 people, get in touch and we’d love to come and tell you all about Delhi’s growing community.
